Where is my confirmation email?

Please double check in your spam folder. If you can’t find it, please do get in touch with us. We will check that we have your correct email address and resend the order confirmation email.

Can I change my delivery address?

We send our kits to the address included in the confirmation email, please double check these details once you have placed your order. We can only edit your shipping address if the order has not yet been labelled.

Our packing team is often very speedy in getting your order packed so it is not always possible for us to change your address.

Can I add a gift note?

We do not currently offer gift notes for our Canadian customers.

What can I make?

You can make both functional and decorative pieces - almost anything you can imagine! What you make is really up to you. It's your own creative expression through clay. You can check out our Best of Sculpd Gallery for inspiration or use the 20 piece step-by-step guide included in your kit to get you started. Not suitable for food / drink vessels.

Do I need a kiln?

You don’t need an expensive kiln to become a clay master. We use air-dry clay which enables you to sculpt and dry your masterpiece at home.

Can I get my piece fired at a local kiln?

There is always a risk of breakages when firing clay pieces. If you intend to fire your finished piece, we recommend reaching out to your local pottery beforehand. This way, they can advise the best approach when using their kiln.

Once you are happy with your creation, we recommend leaving it to dry for at least a week, as moisture can cause it to explode and crack in the kiln. Our air dry clay can be fired between 1000°C and 1260°C or cone 6. The clay will need to be bisque fired first (1000 – 1060°C), then fired again if you wish to add a glaze.

Please note that our paints and varnishes are not intended for use in a kiln. 

How long does it take to dry?

The clay dries by itself when left alone for 24-48 hours. The drying time will vary depending on how thick the piece is.

Do not put your piece in the oven or apply heat to try to speed this process up as this will likely lead to cracks in your masterpiece.

Is it food safe e.g. mugs, plates?

No, our clay is not food safe, therefore it cannot be used to make food / drink vessels.

How long does the clay last?

The clay lasts up to 6 months in its original packaging. If you are only using some of the clay and would like to save some, we recommend wrapping it in cling film and storing it in an airtight container.

Is it waterproof?

We have developed a new and innovative waterproof varnish that allows you to create functional pottery pieces from home (not food safe).

It's easy to apply, non streaky, non sticky and offers amazing coverage. How to use our varnish:

1. Wait for your piece to dry completely for a minimum of 2 - 3 days. It’s important your creation is bone dry before painting (very light in colour and hard to the touch).

2. Apply 2 generous coats of our white acrylic eggshell base layer on the inside, outside and base of your creation. Allow this to dry for a couple of hours.

3. Apply 2 generous coats of our ultra glossy or matte varnish on the inside, outside and base of your creation. Allow this to set completely overnight to ensure a waterproof finish.

Is it safe for children or pregnant women?

Our kits are well enjoyed by all ages but we generally say our kits are suitable for 8+ years.

However, with careful supervision, the clay can be used with younger children.

How do I clean it up?

The clay is very easy to clean off most non porous surfaces using a wet cloth. 

Got it on your clothes? No problem. Our clay can be removed from clothing with just water! You’ll need to be more careful when working with acrylic paints and varnish, as these are harder to remove from fabric. We recommend wearing an apron if you do not wish to get paint or varnish on your favourite clothes.

How do I paint and varnish my creations?

Once the clay is bone dry, first apply your white paint. Once that is dry you can add any coloured paint decorations, followed by the varnish which is the final step.

What paints can I use?

You can buy acrylic paints on our website to use on our clay with a choice between classic, pastel, earth and floral tones.

What can I use to work on?

We recommend working on a non-porous surface that the clay will not get stuck to, that way you can wipe it down easily when you're finished. 

Is your clay vegan?

Yes, our clay is vegan-friendly.

Is your clay gluten free?

Our clay is gluten-free and is created, processed and stored in a gluten-free environment. However, like all things, there is always a small risk of contamination and we do not specifically test for the presence of gluten in the products before we ship them.

Can I add something to my order?

Need to cancel your order? If you have already received a dispatch email, your order is on its way to you, so we would be unable to process a cancellation.

If you haven’t received a dispatch email yet, please drop us a message with your order number and our Customer Team can process a cancellation.

I never received an order confirmation email

You should receive an order confirmation from us at the email address you provided when completing your purchase.

If this is not the case, please check your spam folder. If you can’t find it there, please get in touch and we can check if we have your correct email address and resend the order confirmation email.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver across Canada and the US.

Please note we cannot deliver to PO boxes.

Has my order been shipped?

You will receive an email with tracking information once your order has been dispatched. If you haven't received this after 1-2 working days, please get in touch and we will see where your order is.

How long will it take to arrive?

The estimated shipping times depend on the service you selected at checkout and the province you live in.

My parcel says it’s been delivered but I haven’t got it?

If the tracking details state your order has been delivered but you can’t find it, please consider the following:

- Has the package been left in a safe place?
- Has it been delivered to one of your neighbours?
- Has the correct shipping address been provided?
- Has the courier left a calling card?

Still no luck? Please get in touch with your order number and we will do our best to help locate your parcel.

We’re sorry to hear you’re missing items from your order. Please get in touch with our Customer Team who would be happy to assist you in getting them sent out to you as soon as possible!

To organise a return please get in contact with us.

Once we have received the parcel, we'll process the return and issue a refund within 14 days.

My parcel or something inside is damaged

If your parcel or any of the items within your parcel are damaged, please contact our Customer Team. Please be sure to take photos that clearly show what is wrong with it, as these will be requested.

If there are any other issues with your kit that we have not mentioned above, just get in touch.

Can I add a gift note?

If there are items missing from your kit, please make sure you have checked inside the branded Sculpd box. Any extras (e.g. paint sets) included in your order will be packed inside here.

If there are definitely items missing from your kit please get in touch!

Report missing items
Will my order arrive in plain packaging?

Our branded Sculpd boxes are packed inside nondescript plain cardboard boxes, so the recipient will get a lovely surprise once they open their package. We do not include the invoice inside your order. 

I'd like to return my order

If you would like to return your order, please contact us and we will talk you through the returns process :) 

Please do not send your kit back to our registered address, we will not receive your return and will be unable to process your refund.
